Meet Nate, a Senior, Golfer Extraordinaire, and all around great guy from Des Moines Christian School in Urbandale!
I was honored to do Nate's Senior pictures last month before school started. Senior year is BUSY, so it was nice for him (and mom too) to be able to check this off of his Senior To Do list for the year.
We headed to the Des Moines Art Center (https://www.desmoinesartcenter.org) for Nate's session for several reasons:
1. It's a beautiful location
2. It offers several different looks in one spot, allowing more time to photograph instead of driving to multiple locations (and getting your session done quicker! Great for guys!)
3. The Des Moines Art Center is centrally located, so whether you're a Senior at Ankeny, Waukee, or anywhere in between it's convenient for just about anyone!
I wish I started doing this right away when I started photographing high school Seniors, but now I always make sure to get a photo of the Senior with mom. It doesn't have to be a 'picture perfect' shot (although I think these are pretty incredible 😊) but it's so important to capture this moment between mom and her precious child who isn't a child anymore and will be leaving the nest soon.
Cue the tears....
After a quick shirt change we moseyed on over to the Art Center building. The blue shirt really brought out the color in Nate's eyes, and popped so nicely against the white building.
Toward the end of the session, Nate's dad and younger brother (Des Moines Christian Class of 2022) joined us for a few family shots. Parents often ask me if it's ok to do a quick family shot or 2 at the end of a Senior session and I always say yes! It's easy to do a couple of pictures during the last 5 minutes of a Senior session, but for families who truly want enough photos for a 'full' session it's best to schedule that at a separate time to give you the full family session experience (which is a lot of fun....you can learn more about the session experience here).
Most of Nate's order is ready for delivery! Mom ordered a 16x20 canvas gallery wrap for the wall (which should arrive any day now), their favorite digital images on a crystal USB for safe keeping, the slide show set to music, a custom mobile app for ease of sharing photos with family and friends, and Christmas cards (yet another thing checked off the ever growing to do list).
Do you have a Class of 2019 Senior who still needs Senior pictures done? I know it's busy this time of year, but it's only going to get busier. The time to schedule is now...before the cold and snow sets in (yes, I know, I said it....that dreaded four letter word). The leaves are finally starting to change and the weather is beautiful. Contact me today to discuss your one of a kind Senior session experience. I'd love to work with you!
